Best detox programs in Australia: an honest comparison (2026)

By Zhanna Gee·7 April 2026·9 min read
Fresh Australian whole foods for detox programs

If you search "best detox program Australia" right now, you will find a lot of marketing. Bold claims, before-and-after photos, and promises that feel too good to be real. I get it. When I started SBN back in 2012, the detox space was already crowded. Fourteen years later, it is even more so.

So I thought I would do something different. Instead of just telling you why Slim By Nature is the best (obviously I think it is, I built it), I am going to walk you through the major detox and weight loss programs available in Australia right now. What they include, how they work, what they cost, and who they suit. Then you can decide for yourself.

What makes a good detox program?

Before comparing programs, it helps to know what separates a good detox from a dodgy one. After 14 years of designing programs and working with over 50,000 women, these are the things I look for:

  • Real food. If a program replaces most of your meals with shakes, powders, or pre-made sachets, your body is not learning how to eat properly. You will lose weight, and then gain it all back the moment you stop buying their products.
  • A maintenance phase. This is the biggest gap in most programs. Losing weight is actually the easy part. Keeping it off requires a structured transition period that resets your metabolic set point. Without it, your body fights to return to its old weight.
  • Qualified design. Who actually designed the program? A nutritionist? A naturopath? A marketing team?
  • Ongoing support. Especially in the first two weeks when cravings hit and motivation dips.
  • Transparent ingredients. You should be able to read and understand every ingredient in anything you are putting in or on your body.

The programs compared

I have included the five most searched detox and weight loss programs in Australia. I have tried to be fair. Where a competitor does something well, I have said so.

1. Slim By Nature (SBN)

Approach: 3-phase real food protocol with natural sublingual drops or transdermal patches. Phase 1 is a 2-day loading period. Phase 2 is the detox and fat burning phase (21 to 60 days depending on your program). Phase 3 is a 21-day maintenance phase that resets your metabolic set point.

What you eat: Real food from Coles and Woolworths. Each meal is 100g of one protein plus 125g of one vegetable. Two meals per day, two fruit serves, one snack. No oil, no carbs, no sugar, no alcohol during Phase 2.

Duration: 12 days (trial) to 60 days (full accelerated program). Most popular is the 30-day Premium Kit.

Support: Free nutritionist phone support (1800 787 628), private Facebook group with 7,000+ members, the SBN Life app with AI wellness companion, recipe library, and daily tracking.

Cost: From $69 (12-day trial) to $299 (60-day accelerated). One-time purchase, not a subscription. No ongoing powder or shake costs.

Typical results: 5 to 12kg in 30 days. Results vary depending on starting weight and program compliance.

What I think makes it different: The Phase 3 maintenance period. Most programs end when the detox ends. We spend 21 days gradually reintroducing foods and resetting your metabolism so the weight stays off. Our data shows women who complete Phase 3 maintain their results for 6 to 12+ months. Also, everything is real food. No shakes, no meal replacements, no powders.

Best for: Women who want to eat real food, have tried other diets without lasting success, and want structured support. Particularly popular with women over 40.

2. SLIMTOX

Approach: Detox patches and drops combined with a calorie-controlled eating plan. They also sell protein shakes and a "Body Reset" program.

What you eat: A mix of real food and their shake products. The eating plan is less structured than SBN, more general healthy eating guidelines.

Duration: 21 to 60 days depending on program.

Support: Online customer support, social media community.

Cost: Similar price range. Ongoing shake purchases add to the total cost.

What they do well: Clean branding, approachable marketing. Their shake range gives variety for people who prefer some meal replacements.

Consideration: The reliance on shakes means ongoing product costs. And without a structured maintenance phase, long-term weight maintenance is left to you.

3. The Lemon Detox Diet

Approach: A liquid-only cleanse using a lemon, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper drink. You replace all meals with this drink for 7 to 14 days.

What you eat: Nothing. It is a liquid fast.

Duration: 7 to 14 days.

Support: Minimal. It is mostly a product purchase with instructions.

Cost: Around $60 to $80 for the kit.

What they do well: Low cost entry point. The simplicity appeals to people who want something straightforward.

Consideration: This is essentially a crash diet. You will lose weight quickly because you are not eating. But the weight is mostly water and muscle, not fat. Without any maintenance phase or food education, most people regain the weight within weeks. Health professionals generally advise against liquid-only fasts for weight loss. There is no protein intake at all, which means muscle loss is significant.

4. Nature's Body

Approach: Detox drops and patches with a structured eating plan. Similar concept to SBN, with natural homeopathic-style drops.

What you eat: A protocol similar to SBN with approved proteins and vegetables.

Duration: 21 to 60 days.

Support: Email support, downloadable guides.

Cost: Mid-range pricing, competitive with SBN.

What they do well: The food protocol is sensible and based on real food. Their product packaging is clean.

Consideration: Smaller community and less established track record. Support is primarily email-based rather than phone or live chat. The brand is newer and has fewer verified customer reviews.

5. CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet

Approach: An online 12-week program developed by Australia's national science agency. High protein, low GI eating plan with structured meal plans, recipes, and tracking.

What you eat: Balanced meals following CSIRO's research-backed macronutrient ratios. Real food, home-cooked meals.

Duration: 12 weeks (ongoing subscription available).

Support: Online dashboard, meal planning tools, community forums. No phone support or personal nutritionist access.

Cost: Around $20 per month subscription. Very affordable ongoing.

What they do well: The science backing is excellent. CSIRO is a trusted institution. The meal plans are genuinely well-designed and the recipe database is large. The low monthly cost makes it accessible.

Consideration: It is not a detox program. It is a long-term dietary change program. If you are looking for a metabolic reset or a structured cleanse, this is not that. It also requires significant meal prep and cooking. There is no supplementation component (drops, patches) to support metabolism during the program. Results tend to be slower but steady, around 0.5 to 1kg per week.

So which one is right for you?

The honest answer is it depends on what you need.

If you want fast, structured results with real food and proper support, SBN is what I would recommend (and not just because I built it). The 3-phase approach with a dedicated maintenance period is something most competitors skip entirely. That maintenance phase is what stops the rebound weight gain that makes most programs feel like a waste of money.

If you prefer some meal replacements mixed with real food, SLIMTOX is worth looking at. The shakes add convenience, though they also add ongoing cost.

If you are on a tight budget and want science-backed eating guidelines, CSIRO at $20 per month is hard to beat for value. Just know that results are slower and there is no detox or metabolic reset component.

If you just want a quick reset and are comfortable with a liquid fast, the Lemon Detox is cheap and simple. But I would not recommend it for lasting weight loss. The muscle loss alone makes it counterproductive for anyone trying to improve their metabolism long-term.

If you are a woman over 40 dealing with hormonal changes, menopause symptoms, or stubborn midlife weight, I would suggest reading our women over 40 guide before choosing a program. The hormonal component changes which approach will actually work for you.

How to choose

My advice? Start with what feels right for your life right now. If you are not sure, our 60-second quiz matches you with the right SBN program based on your goals, lifestyle, and how much weight you want to lose. It takes the guesswork out of it.

And if you want to understand why so many Australian women are choosing natural detox approaches over GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, we have put together a comprehensive natural alternatives guide that covers the evidence on both sides.

Whatever you choose, choose something that teaches you how to eat, not something that replaces your meals with products. Your body already knows how to lose weight. Sometimes it just needs the right conditions to do it.
