Alysia's story is one of the most extraordinary we have ever shared. Not because of the number on the scale, although 57.5kg lost is remarkable. But because of what she went through to get there.
When Alysia started in 2020, she weighed 123kg. She was a single mum of three, struggling to walk, using food to cope with a life that felt like it was closing in on her. She was in a difficult relationship. She was exhausted. And she knew something had to change.
The long road
Alysia did not lose 57.5kg in one go. This was nearly five years of work, with setbacks, restarts, and life constantly throwing things at her.
After leaving her relationship, she moved her three kids from Queensland to Canberra and did two more rounds of the SBN program. But finding stable housing was a battle, and she fell back into old patterns. Food was comfort when everything else felt uncertain.
Then another move, this time to Melbourne. Another fresh start. She committed to another round and watched the scale drop into the 80s. For the first time in years, she felt like it was actually possible.
Between working as a disability support worker, raising three kids on her own, and dealing with the end of another relationship, she kept going. She had a wedding on the horizon as motivation. When that relationship ended too, she had a choice. Give up, or push harder.
She pushed harder.
Then life really tested her
In October 2024, Alysia was told she needed back surgery. Crushed nerves. Bulging disc. Most people would have pressed pause on everything else. She did another round of SBN instead.
When she stepped on the scale: 65.5kg.
That is 57.5kg lost. From 123 to 65.5. Over nearly five years of refusing to quit.
What Alysia taught us
I have worked with over 50,000 women and Alysia's story still stops me in my tracks. Not everyone's path is a straight line. Hers certainly was not. She gained weight back, she restarted, she moved cities twice, she had surgery, she ended relationships, she raised three children through all of it.
And she lost 57.5kg.
The SBN program gave her a structure she could come back to every time life knocked her sideways. The same food protocol, the same drops, the same community. It was her constant when nothing else was.
"My children needed me, and I needed to be my best self. Every time I came back to the program, it was like coming home."
